2025-Q1 Newsletter

We're excited to present the inaugural 2025 Q1 Newsletter from the Centre for Human Rights (CFHR)! This issue covers our work from January to March 2025.

Inside, you'll find highlights like:

  • International Engagement: We participated in the SE4U Regional Workshop on the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) in Malaysia. A key outcome was the launch of the Civil Society Regional Network for Asia (NET4U), with CFHR serving as a coordinator.
  • Youth Empowerment: Our Youth Changemakers Advocacy Program (YCAP) is empowering young people across Pakistan to drive social change.
  • Legal Awareness: We conducted "Know-Your-Rights" training sessions, including one at the Business and Law School focusing on marriage rights under Pakistani law. We also held a session at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) on women's legal protections in marriage.
  • Collaborative Efforts: We're strengthening partnerships, including a meeting with the Network of Organisations Working for People with Disabilities, Pakistan (NOWPDP) to advance disability inclusion.
  • Access to Justice: Our legal team provided pro bono consultations to ten women on issues like child maintenance, property rights, and dissolution of marriage. We also made progress on our Marriage Rights Documentary, which highlights the significance of the Nikahnama (marriage contract).
  • Future Clinics: We're working to establish Legal Aid and Advocacy Clinics at universities like Mirpur University of Science and Technology, SZABIST, and Quaid-i-Azam University, although some activities were temporarily paused due to work stop orders.

This quarter has been a period of significant growth and collaboration, affirming our commitment to justice and human rights. We are grateful for the ongoing support that makes our work possible.
