16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence 2019

In 2019, CFHR participated in the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence for the first time, launching initiatives to raise awareness, challenge harmful stereotypes, and encourage male allyship. Through youth engagement, myth-busting campaigns, and commitment drives, CFHR sparked critical conversations on gender equality and survivor rights, laying the foundation for future advocacy efforts.

  1. HeForShe Campaign 2019: CFHR’s Human Rights Clinic law students led a campus-wide commitment drive as part of the global HeForShe Campaign. At Universal College Lahore, students engaged their peers in discussions on gender equality and the importance of male allyship in advancing women’s rights. The campaign extended beyond the campus, reaching male students from other universities in Lahore to promote dialogue on breaking gender stereotypes. The one-day drive resulted in 291 commitments, with 244 men pledging to support gender equality—reinforcing the need for collective action to challenge societal norms.
  2. Myth vs. Reality: In collaboration with Musawi, CFHR launched a social media campaign during the 16 Days of Activism to debunk myths surrounding rape, rape survivors, and rape culture in Pakistan. This initiative aimed to challenge victim-blaming narratives, raise fact-based awareness on sexual violence, and promote a survivor-centric approach to justice. By shifting the conversation from stigma to accountability, the campaign played a crucial role in sensitizing local communities to the realities of sexual violence.

Through these initiatives, CFHR mobilized young leaders, supported critical conversations, and took meaningful steps toward gender justice in Pakistan. To learn more, view our  newsletter
