Rights of Transgender Persons in Pakistan

As part of its efforts, CFHR undertook a project to assess the effectiveness of the 2018 Act in addressing the challenges faced by transgender individuals. Law students at CFHR’s Human Rights Clinic conducted a literature review, examining legal and societal issues under the supervision of the project lead.  The policy paper:

  • Evaluated whether the 2018 Act adequately addresses the discrimination and marginalization of transgender individuals.
  • Analyzed provincial-level implementation, identifying gaps and inconsistencies in enforcement.
  • Assessed the socio-cultural barriers that hinder the full integration of transgender individuals into society.

Provided policy recommendations to strengthen legal protections and encourage provincial governments to take substantive action.
