The Training-of-Trainers Curriculum on Pakistan's Nikahnama, developed by the Centre for Human Rights with the Council of Islamic Ideology, focuses on training Nikah Registrars and Union Council Secretaries on the legal and Islamic underpinnings of the nikahnama and marriage rights protected therein. It includes four detailed modules covering all 25 nikahnama clauses, highlighting rights and obligations under Shariah and Pakistani law. In particular, the curriculum’s content centres on key issues such as age of marriage, consent, haq mehr (dower), talaq-e-tafweez (delegated right to divorce), special conditions, amongst others. Designed with adult learning principles, it integrates participatory methods and case studies to promote equitable marriage solemnisation and registration practices in Pakistan.
